As early as the 1950s, the Wellington Road Junction of Debe was becoming a famous spot for Indian delicacies, particularly doubles and aloo pies. Debe Junction has since become the home of Indian Delicacies. Tourists and locals alike come to purchase doubles, aloo pies, bhaiganie, saheena, kachourie, amchar and a variety of sweets such as goolab jamoon, barfi, kurma, rasgulla and lots more.
Around these modest stalls a thriving community has developed from parlours to international food chains including Pizza Boys, Rituals, and K.F.C. With the recent extension of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway to Point Fortin it has become even easier to access these stalls.
